Polluted Scottsdale Water Adds Up to Half-Million Dollar Fine

Some of Scottsdale's water has been polluted for decades. The culprits are the ones responsible for the cleaning up their mess, rightfully so. Today, it was announced they would pay a penalty of $500,000 for causing contamination of Scottsdale's water with an industrial solvent known as TCE or trichloroethylene. Yummy!

National Trails Days Event at Pinnacle Peak

In honor of National Trails Day, Pinnacle Peak Park is hosting an event on Saturday, June 2 at 6:30 a.m. In conjunction with Scottsdale Healthcare, the park has invited special guest speaker Dr. Jennifer Burke who will discuss heat stress and how it affects the body. The talk will be followed by a guided, sunrise hike along the park trail. Water, trail mix and fruit will be provided to participants. The event is limited to the first 40 people and registration is required by calling 480-882-4636.

Six sites will be the focus of an upcoming tour of solar and renewable energy buildings in Scottsdale. The self-guided tour takes place on Saturday, April 28 at the following Scottsdale locations:

Solar Power Comes Standard in New Scottsdale Homes

Solar-powered homes are defining a new standard in Scottsdale. Modus Development is offering the green energy system to home buyers at the company's newest offerings at Oak & Scottsdale roads in Scottsdale. The developer is teaming up with Salt River Project to provide the systems for the innovative homes, officially certified as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) buildings. The homes are so green that they will, on annual basis, offset 30,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, the main culprit in climate change.
