Sal Princiotta Murder Motive Announced

Scottsdale police announced that the robbery of Sal Princiotta's coin collection served as the motive for his murder. Sal's family confirmed that the retired firefighter was associating with a man by the name of Jeff who sold Sal a safe. Jeff - Jeffrey Bigham, a 56-year old part-time Arizona resident - killed Sal on May 1 in an incident involving the safe and a coin and memorabilia collection kept by the hero firefighter. Bigham killed himself in front of police as they were closing in on him in San Bernadino, California on Friday.

Who is this Jeff Bingham? Why has no news agency identified him other than by name? Where did he live? What was his occupation? Previous record? etc.

dbl,

Those are all important questions, some of which we may never have solid or satisfying answers for. Here's a very rough sketch of Mr. Bigham:

* 56-year old white male
* lived part time in the Phoenix-area and part time in southern California
* rented a room in the Phoenix-area
* roommate sold Bigham gun(s)
* Bigham sold Sal a safe and was aware of Sal's coin collection and other valuables

Bigham's roommate stated that he was sure Bigham killed Sal after being told the background of the story by the local media. He said Bigham was "that kinda guy."

Bigham was a bookie and took gambling bets of all kinds. This sounds to me like a big debt owed by the sugarcoated firefighter.

"Sugarcoated firefighter?" Anon2, where were you on 9/11? Somehow, I just don't think you were running into the WTC trying to save people.

The roommate sounds like a bright guy, he knew he was "the Kinda guy" that could do something like that, so he sells him guns...
whoever made the comment about Sal owing a debt should be ashamed.
Did you ever thing the bookie killer owed money and stole the coin collection to pay off his debt??

Just to set the record straight for the ignorant person who made the stupid comment about the sugarcoated firefighter. Sal was a good friend for years and would give the shirt off his back to help someone. Did you read the part about him running into a burning building to save a fellow fire fighter's life or that he gave toys to unfortunate children every year or that he road his bike across the country to raise money for the families of fallen firefighters??? must have missed that huh... you should retract your comment...

Sugarcoated might be the wrong description. Most people who gamble keep it in the closet and don't share that with friends. Mr. Bigham was a bookie and from what is in print about how the two met in Vegas only prompts me to the fact that maybe the gambling got out of hand. When you owe a debt to a bookie it is like the old days of the mobsters, they come looking for their money and get it however they can. It sounds like the firefighter got in over his head and hooked up with the wrong guy. I am sorry to hear this happened and I am sure he was a great firefighter and a person of respect. Gambling is a dangerous addiction that can ruin your life. I know this because I have the same addiction and go to GA meetings on a regular basis just like an alcoholic would go to AA. Most of the people that I see at GA meetings are respectable people of society that you would never guess that they have a gambling addiction because they keep it hidden away from their friends and family.
