Princiotta Coin Collection Sold by Killer

The coin and memorabilia collection that served as the motive in the killing of 9/11 hero fireman Sal Princiotta by Jeff Bigham was sold by Bigham after the murder to a coin dealer in southern California. Bigham received nearly $20,000 for Sal's collection, most of which is now untraceable because it was sold off in pieces.

Bigham befriended the retired firefighter in Las Vegas earlier this year. He sold Princiotta a safe for his Scottsdale condo and became aware of Sal's coin and memorabilia collection. Bigham then killed Sal for that collection in a robbery at the condo on May 1. Bigham killed himself in southern California last Friday as police were closing in on him.

Bigham was a bookie and this story seems sugar coated to protect the adorned firefighter. It sounds to me like a gambling debt gone bad.

read the story again and get your facts straight. The hero was the bookie!

anon1,

"The adorned firefighter?" You must be kidding. Sal was a 9/11 hero, period. What have you done?

did you make a mistake about calling the bookie a hero? Or do you think heroes are people who kill other people? Think you need to get more than the facts of the story straight...I always thought heroes were people who save other people.
If you had a half of brain and knew Sal you would not be saying this.

Wake up...

Who called the Bookie a hero? The hero was the firefighter with the gambling debt and the loser was the bookie who came looking for his money.
I'm sure if I knew Sal I would love the guy and he sounds like a great person. I also respect any person who would risk their life to save others as he did in 9/11. That take larger balls than I will ever have.
The sad part is that I knew of the bookie and I know of his habits, addictions and crooked ways. I also know he would not kill someone in a simple robbery. There must have been an unknown motive that we will never know because he killed himself. A huge gambling debt would be my guess.
BTW. Mr. Bigham had cancer and would have died shortly in prison over this murder. I am sure that is why he took his own life.
Readers, please don't take this post in disrespect of Sal. It is only an insight of what really might have transpired the day he was murdered and why.
