The Scottsdale Police Department is investigating a series of incidents where a person or persons fraudulently identify themselves as "city water" to gain entry into a residence and take items of value. Residents are being advised to take precautions when confronted with unknown persons at their door.
· A person or persons asking for entry into your home should never show up unannounced and should produce proper identification before being allowed in. If you are not absolutely certain of the person's identity, do not allow them in.
· Utility companies, such as the gas, phone, or cable companies, will normally schedule an appointment in advance, unless there is an emergency.
Again, if you are unsure of the person's legitimacy, do not let them in your home without calling the company they represent to confirm their purpose. Residents are urged to call the police immediately if they have a suspicious person show up at their door asking for entry into their home. Baseball fans in Scottsdale enjoyed an interesting afternoon with San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds as the baseball star led a rookie hazing tradition by dressing up as Paula Abdul. The fans, teammates and media all got a good laugh during the American Idol parody, but Barry MUST be looking at those photos and thinking, "Never again!"
Scottsdale-based Go Daddy will run 2 advertisements during Super Bowl XL. The leading ad will appear late in the 1st quarter or early in the 2nd quarter. The company's previous Super Bowl ad, it's first, generated millions in free publicity and additional revenue for the company. This year, Go Daddy went through 14 versions of a new ad finding one that ABC censors would approve. Stay tuned for post-ad analysis. And, congratulations to a great Scottsdale company!
